Being a resident of Kealba really is awe-inspiring. It is a truly amazing location. But just because it's a fantastic location doesn't mean that life is simple. The constant demands of appointments, busy schedules and the endless stream of social events often mean that our homes are often neglected. Although many people have experienced this, We at Sparkle and Shine consider that it is never a good idea to compromise on things that really matter in life.

The land was part of the Overnewton Estate owned by William Taylor, who had Overnewton Castle built on the Calder Highway. After the Government demanded the release of land by large landowners, two large farm allotments were sold to Farquhar Macrae and his wife Annie (nee Ritchie). Malcolm Ritchie Macrae, their son, purchased the land in Kealba after the Macraes died. The farm was used to grow oats and for the breeding of horses, cows and sheep.

During the 1960s the land was sold for subdivisional purposes, the first land auction taking place on 22 March 1969. During this time the area came under the St. Albans postal district, 3021, and was called St Albans.

In the years that followed, all the land was divided and, in February 1970, a school called Kealba Secondary College (originally St Albans Park High School), was established. Due to confusion with St Albans High, the principal, Mr Leo Webb requested that the name change be made in July 1970. To choose a name, a community group was formed (former Mayor Ciro Lomardi was part this group).
The group originally put forward the names ‘Albakei’, ‘Keialba’ and ‘Kealba’ which were a combination of the names Keilor and St Albans. The group settled on the name ‘Kealba Secondary College’.

After changing the schools’ names to Kealba Secondary college and under the Survey Co-Ordination Act 1958 the City of Keilor applied for a change in the name of St Albans East to Kealba. The location was designated as being – the area of the City bordered by St Albans Road and Taylors Creek, McIntyre Road East, Main Road East, Sunshine Avenue, McIntyre Road East, Main Road East, Main Road East, and the Maribyrnong River. Later, a few industrial areas were added to Malcolm Court and Stenson Rd.

You can book a service by calling our friendly staff on 03 9088 3118 or by filling out the booking form on our website. Just enter your Postcode, add the the details of the service, select a date and time and we'll do the rest.

What will a standard cleaning service include?

Every standard clean that we do is a whole house clean covering all areas including bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, lounge & living rooms, laundry. You can choose to include add-ons to your clean such as oven cleaning, cleaning inside the fridge, and carpet cleaning and a range of other add-ons. Feel free to leave additional notes in your account during checkout, or contacting us to provide instructions for the cleaners.

What if I only want parts of my house cleaned?

In our booking form you can select to remove rooms from the clean if you dont want them included.
If your house is 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms select this initially, then tick the Part House Cleaning Only check box. You can then choose areas of you house you want to remove from the service.

Do I need to be present during the clean?

No you don't need to be home during the service.

Some customers do like to be home for the whole clean, some prefer to meet their cleaning professional first then get them to lock up when they are done.

As long as our cleaners have clear instructions on how to gain access into your home, we will take care of the rest. Many of our customers prefer to schedule their clean during the workday, so they can come home to a sparkling clean house.

Can I cancel anytime or is it an ongoing contract?

There are no lock in contracts with Sparkle and Shine. You are free to cancel or reschedule whenever you want so long as its not within 48 hours of a booking.

Last minute cancellations and reschedules cause our cleaning professionals to lose valuable work hours. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please do so at least 48 hours in advance to avoid cancellation fees.
