The Mount Waverley area, then part of the Parish of Mulgrave, was divided by straight roads running north-south and east-west, each exactly one mile apart, by Assistant Surveyor Eugene Bellairs, in 1853. Mount Waverley Post Office opened on 9 October 1905.

Mount Waverley is known for its heritage streets, which date back to the 1930s. Due to the onset of the Great Depression, the building of houses on the suburb’s earliest estates did not commence in earnest until the early 1950s. According to Lachlan Bath, president of the Ashburton Historical Society, the suburb’s streets had been laid down, but no houses were built; merely a row of “cardboard boxes” housed the first few residents who had migrated east from the “slums of Ashburton to enjoy a better standard of living”, only to be bitterly disappointed with the estate agents who promised milk and honey but instead delivered a mosquito infested swamp. Although they were disappointed, Ashburton immigrants agreed that the “swamp”, while a significant step up from their homes, was a great improvement. The suburb’s wider residential development is represented by Mount Waverley North (opened 1959, closed 1983), Mount Waverley South (1968, closed 1973), and Mount Waverley West (1964, closed 1977).

Close to Mt Waverley Village are the suburb’s first streets, once designed to become the very epitome of prestigious country estate living and an extravagant idea decades ahead of its time. Sherwood Park was once part of Glen Alvie’s prestigious estate. It was designed to bring country club-style living to Waverley. The land was of high quality. 25 acres were purchased from Mr Jack Lechte in 1928, some from Mr Cornell, and a large parcel from Mr F. Closter – totaling 50 acres. This fertile land was used as a dairy farm with Ayrshire/Jersey cross cows. There were also pigs and stock feed crops like canola, maize, and lucerne (alfalfa). Glen Alvie Estates Limited allocated five of the fifty acres for recreation facilities. There was to be a club house, six tennis courts, a bowling green, a croquet lawn, a mashee lawn, and a large swimming pool. These were to be laid out adjacent to Sherwood Park, a huge central area, lined with date palms that are still seen today. Large houses around the periphery were to be built, and one-way roads would be constructed to prevent traffic problems; and also elsewhere in the estate – tucked between the large unfenced building sites and gardens to give a sense of living on a country estate. St John’s Wood Golf Links (now Riversdale Golf Club) was established in the area by 1930. The gardens were designed by Edna Walling. Mount Waverley Primary School was also located nearby. This was to become garden suburb living.

The suburb’s original streets, including Park Lane, Virginia Street and Sherwood Road, were built of concrete, not the less expensive asphalt. Council wanted to charge residents an additional rate to pay the enormous loan to build these concrete streets. The surface has only been maintained over the years, and is the same as it was when it was built in 1930. Residential development did not resurge until the 1950s. A new, smoother asphalt surface was laid on the Stephensons Road strip between Waverley Road & Mount Waverley Village shopping center in 2008.

What will a standard cleaning service include?

Every standard clean that we do is a whole house clean covering all areas including bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, lounge & living rooms, laundry. You can choose to include add-ons to your clean such as oven cleaning, cleaning inside the fridge, and carpet cleaning and a range of other add-ons. What if I only want parts of my house cleaned?

In our booking form you can select to remove rooms from the clean if you dont want them included.
If your house is 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms select this initially, then tick the Part House Cleaning Only check box. You can then choose areas of you house you want to remove from the service.

Do I need to be present during the clean?

No you don't need to be home during the service.

Some customers do like to be home for the whole clean, some prefer to meet their cleaning professional first then get them to lock up when they are done.

As long as our cleaners have clear instructions on how to gain access into your home, we will take care of the rest. Many of our customers prefer to schedule their clean during the workday, so they can come home to a sparkling clean house.

Can I cancel anytime or is it an ongoing contract?
