The lifestyle in Eaglemont really is amazing. It is a truly amazing location. But just because it's an excellent location does not mean that daily life is easy. A busy schedule, appointments and the endless stream of social occasions frequently mean that our homes are often neglected. While many of us are able to relate, we at Sparkle and Shine believe that it is never a good idea to compromise on the essentials in life.

Two properties were built in the area in the 1840s; “Leighton” was built by the Bolden brothers, whilst “Hartlands” was built by novelist S. J. Browne. “Hartlands” was located on the elevated region known as Mount Eagle, and was subdivided in 1853. The area remained agricultural, apart from a large house and gardens, named “Mount Eagle”, built in the late 1850s by parliamentarian J. H. Brooke.[citation needed]

During the landboom of the 1880s, the “Mount Eagle” and “Leighton” properties were bought by a syndicate and subdivided. The area was named Mount Eagle Estate. The “Mount Eagle” property failed to sell, and remained vacant until 1888 when it was made available to a group of artists. This group became known as the Heidelberg School, and included Tom Roberts, Arthur Streeton, Charles Conder, and Frederick McCubbin.

In 1915 Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahony Griffin were commissioned to design a subdivision in the Mount Eagle Estate. The design incorporated curving streets which followed the contours of the land, and private parklands, as an early example of a Garden Suburb design. In 1916 they designed the nearby Glenard Estate upon similar principles. The Griffins designed numerous houses in the area, and later became residents of Eaglemont, living at 23 Glenard Drive in the small knitlock house ‘Pholiota’ They lived alongside the house of Walter’s brother-in-law Roy Lippincott at no. 21.

Eaglemont Post Office opened on 14 October 1929 some time after the opening of the railway station in 1926.

You can book a service by calling our friendly staff on 03 9088 3118 or by filling out the booking form on our website. Just enter your Postcode, add the the details of the service, select a date and time and we'll do the rest.

What will a standard cleaning service include?

Every standard clean that we do is a whole house clean covering all areas including bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, lounge & living rooms, laundry. You can choose to include add-ons to your clean such as oven cleaning, cleaning inside the fridge, and carpet cleaning and a range of other add-ons. Feel free to leave additional notes in your account during checkout, or contacting us to provide instructions for the cleaners.

What if I only want parts of my house cleaned?

In our booking form you can select to remove rooms from the clean if you dont want them included.
If your house is 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms select this initially, then tick the Part House Cleaning Only check box. You can then choose areas of you house you want to remove from the service.

Do I need to be present during the clean?

No you don't need to be home during the service.

Some customers do like to be home for the whole clean, some prefer to meet their cleaning professional first then get them to lock up when they are done.

As long as our cleaners have clear instructions on how to gain access into your home, we will take care of the rest. Many of our customers prefer to schedule their clean during the workday, so they can come home to a sparkling clean house.

Can I cancel anytime or is it an ongoing contract?

There are no lock in contracts with Sparkle and Shine. You are free to cancel or reschedule whenever you want so long as its not within 48 hours of a booking.

Last minute cancellations and reschedules cause our cleaning professionals to lose valuable work hours. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please do so at least 48 hours in advance to avoid cancellation fees.
