The Bundoora area was originally inhabited by the Kurnaj-berring tribe of the Wurundjeri clan. Prior to European settlement, there were several large wetlands that were utilised by members of the Kurnaj-berring tribe.

Europeans first arrived in the Bundoora area, known at the time as the Parish of Keelbundora, in 1835. The land for surveyed in 1837 by William Wedge-Drake to allow for the sale of land. The land has previously been owned by members of the Port Phillip Association such as John Batman, who grazed their sheep there without regard for the Wurundjeri clan. The land was subsequently auctioned in Melbourne in 1838 with Bundoora being sectioned off into two areas of approximately 400 hectares. The land was purchased by well-off individuals and land speculators who resold the land within a few months, this time in blocks of 40 to 120 hectares (100 to 300 acres). It was primarily used for sheep grazing and grain production.

Bundoora Post Office opened on 1 October 1863.

In 1899, John Matthew Vincent Smith, a well known horse breeder, purchased a 242-hectare (600-acre) property known as “Bundoora Park”. The property was used to raise racing horses. A competition was held in the same year to design a homestead for the property. Sydney Herbert Wilson, who designed the Malvern Town Hall, claimed the prize of 50 pounds. The Bundoora Homestead remains a significant example of Queen Anne style Federation architecture.

What will a standard cleaning service include?

Every standard clean that we do is a whole house clean covering all areas including bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, lounge & living rooms, laundry. You can choose to include add-ons to your clean such as oven cleaning, cleaning inside the fridge, and carpet cleaning and a range of other add-ons. What if I only want parts of my house cleaned?

In our booking form you can select to remove rooms from the clean if you dont want them included.
If your house is 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms select this initially, then tick the Part House Cleaning Only check box. You can then choose areas of you house you want to remove from the service.

Do I need to be present during the clean?

No you don't need to be home during the service.

Some customers do like to be home for the whole clean, some prefer to meet their cleaning professional first then get them to lock up when they are done.

As long as our cleaners have clear instructions on how to gain access into your home, we will take care of the rest. Many of our customers prefer to schedule their clean during the workday, so they can come home to a sparkling clean house.

Can I cancel anytime or is it an ongoing contract?

There are no lock in contracts with Sparkle and Shine. You are free to cancel or reschedule whenever you want so long as its not within 48 hours of a booking.

Last minute cancellations and reschedules cause our cleaning professionals to lose valuable work hours. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please do so at least 48 hours in advance to avoid cancellation fees.
